Curriculum

Cognitive, emotional, and social well-being are important factors in a child’s learning process.  This is why I strive to use developmentally appropriate practices in my curriculum.

Areas of Play:

  • Library
    • Promotes language development and listening skills.  This is a quiet area for children to read books.
  • Science
    • Helps children with exploration and discovery. It includes sand and water play, rock collection, magnets, weights, volume, measurements, and magnifying glasses. A fish tank is also on display to intrigue young scientists.

  • Art
    • The children will have the opportunity to participate in daily art projects.  The children will be allowed freedom of expressions in art form scheduled.  I focus on the process, not the product.

  • Math and Manipulatives
    • This area helps children with sorting, counting, and classifying as well as puzzles and play dough.  Manipulative toys help develop small muscle coordination.
  • Dramatic Play
    • This area encourages dramatic play through the use of dress-up clothes and accessories, playhouse appliances, and dolls, that stimulate realistic life experiences.

  • Blocks
    • This area provides a place where children can build with a large assortment of blocks that will encourage physical and cognitive development.

  • Outside Play
    • Allows for the development of large motor skills, as well as using imagination.
